Programme Structure

1. Get to Know Your Neighbours Event
The Parkleigh Coffee Social on 28th September 2024 was a well-attended event, drawing approximately 150 residents, including over 20 children enjoying playtime on the green. The atmosphere was lively, with lots of interest in the Home Together project and Cairn’s role in the community. Conversations continued even after the event, reinforcing the value of such gatherings in fostering community spirit. Residents praised the friendliness of the neighbourhood and looked forward to seeing new faces integrated. Residents expressed enthusiasm for future gatherings, with feedback emphasising the importance of these events for community bonding.

3. Residents' Association Workshop
In February 2025 The Parkleigh Residents’ Association Workshop brought together around 25 residents for an engaging and productive evening of learning, discussion, and planning. Neighbours explored what a Residents’ Association could achieve, sharing concerns about security, ideas for future events, and their own skills and experience. It was great to see people stepping forward for leadership roles, with Al, Divya, Stephanie, PJ, and John offering to take on different tasks. Shane Hogan from South Dublin County Council joined to explain funding options and support available, sparking plenty of questions and ideas for next steps. By the end of the day, residents had a clear plan to design a leaflet, gather more interest, and prepare for an Open Meeting to officially launch their association. The workshop showed a real appetite for connection and collaboration in Parkleigh, with lots of energy to build a stronger, safer community. Parkleigh Residents Association was created at an Open Meeting on 26th of March 2025.
4. Neighbourhood Events Workshop
The Parkleigh Neighbourhood Visioning Workshop, held on 25th November 2024, brought together around 35 residents for an evening of connection, conversation, and shared ideas about the estate’s future. Neighbours gathered in the Cairn Marketing Suite to talk about what they love about Parkleigh—like its peaceful environment—and to dream up improvements, from local shops to sports facilities. With creative activities led by Ali and support from the Home Together team, the session sparked lots of thoughtful discussions and new connections, including many newcomers meeting each other for the first time. Residents also raised practical concerns like parking and fencing, showing a balance of big-picture hopes and day-to-day challenges. The workshop ended with a clear sense of excitement and momentum, with several residents stepping forward as potential community leaders and lots of enthusiasm for what’s next.
