Programme Structure

1. Get to Know Your Neighbours Event

In July 2025, Home Together hosted a Coffee Morning in Mercer Vale, bringing around 65 neighbours together under gazebos decorated with bunting and stocked with cakes, biscuits, and fresh coffee from Brews and Bites. After a slow start, a reminder on the residents’ WhatsApp group saw the green quickly fill with families and individuals eager to connect.

Neighbours chatted, met people they hadn’t crossed paths with before, and spoke about the importance of building community in such a diverse estate, where many residents have no family nearby. As Dan put it: “This is a great idea! Community is very important to me.”

Residents were also enthusiastic about plans for a workshop on setting up a Residents’ Association, building on the activity already happening through their own WhatsApp groups. The event marked a lively and positive first step for Mercer Vale, sparking enthusiasm for more gatherings and stronger connections across the neighbourhood.
